2011 Ironclad 1.5ltr MAGNUM

2011 was a relatively cool and late vintage for the reds delivering wines of elegance and finesse.

The decision was made to ferment without crushing which is quite often the case in the cooler vintages at Man O’ War. The fruit was treated gently with a pre and post ferment soak with gentle pump overs and hand plunging twice daily during the actual ferment stage.

Man O’ War has 45 different vineyards dedicated to the production of our Ironclad Bordeaux blend. Each vineyard is hand harvested and sorted in the winery into whole bunch and berry batches.

After an average of 30 days in vat the wines are gently pressed direct to barrel where they remain until blending. Once blending has been completed the wine stays in tank for 4 months before a light filtration to bottle.

The nose has aromas of sweet ripe fruit with lifted aromas of crushed red berries and darker cassis with hints of floral perfume, tobacco and cedar.
the Palate is vibrant, exuding ripe fruit and rich texture finishing with fine grain tannin's.
The 2011 Ironclad shows great fruit accessibility with a powerful structure coated in luxuriant fruit, Supple yet powerful!
