2015 Estate Bordeaux Blend

2015 was a somewhat testing season with a cold start to the Spring delaying bud burst and Southerly winds persisting throughout fruit set affecting the yield. The cool winds cleared as the season progressed but the harvest was still hampered with persistent rain events requiring an extraordinary effort in the vineyard to deliver fruit of impressive quality.

After careful hand harvesting the fruit is delivered to the winery and then put across a sorting table before being 100% de-stemmed and delivered to open vats for fermentation. All of our red ferments undergo fermentation with wild yeasts with pump overs being carried out twice daily. Following an extended time on skins (average 35days in vat) the wines are gently pressed
and taken straight to barrel for natural malolactic fermentation in the spring. The wines are racked once to a blend after 18 months before further maturing in tank for 3 months prior to bottling.

The 2015 Estate Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec is a vibrant perfumed blend displaying classic aromas of Cabernet franc; lifted red berries and forest floor, complemented by the succulence of Merlot and the lifted floral characters of both Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Made in an open ready to drink style the Estate blend is a perfect accompaniment to roasted and grilled red meats and, although accessible in its youth, the Estate blends have a proven ability to age.
